Nateby Primary School

Curriculum

At Nateby we have 3 full-size classrooms and the ‘mezzanine’ Nateby. At the moment they are arranged as follows:

Class 1: Reception and year 1

Class 2: Years 2 and 3

Class 3: Years 5 and 6

Class 4: Year 6

We follow the National Curriculum in all subjects. This is differentiated for the different age-groups in the class. This means that each pupil is receiving the learning experience which is just right for them. We follow a skills progression across the school so that each child learns the same objective but at a different skill level.

Phonics is taught daily in Reception and Year 1 using Twinkl resources. Where appropriate we use Twinkl as our Reading Scheme. For older, more fluent Readers the school uses mostly Oxford Reading Tree resources; for fluent readers a mixture of books is used so that readers cover a wide range of high-quality books including ‘classics’.
